CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BICYCLE & PEDESTRIAN SUBCOMMITTEE TO CORPUS CHRISTI TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Subcommittee (CC-BPSC) is composed of Thirteen (13) members. Eleven are appointed by the City of Corpus Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) for three-year terms to provide advice on bicycle and pedestrian safety matters. The CC-BPSC was created October 22, 2009.

Responsibilities

The Bicycle & Pedestrian Subcommittee duties are: 

  • acts as an advisory committee to the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) of Corpus Christi, Texas on public concerns related to bicycle and pedestrian safety, facilities, planning, and education in the community;

  • review and provide input to the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan while promoting acceptance of bicyclists and pedestrians;

  • promote public acceptance of community bicycling programs;

  • provide a public forum to hear public concerns; discuss proposed bicycling and pedestrian regulations;

  • cooperating with public and private school systems in promoting traffic safety training aids in the schools;

Safe Routes to School programs enable community leaders, schools and parents across the United States to improve safety and encourage more children, including children with disabilities, to safely walk and bicycle to school. In the process, programs are working to reduce traffic congestion and improve health and the environment, making communities more livable for everyone.
