Responsibilities

The MPO staff develops and maintains the biennial Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and the Transportation Improvement Program.

  • Conduct research and prepare various planning studies as necessary to carry out the MPO planning process;
  • Provide technical assistance as needed to MPO member agencies in local transportation planning;
  • To provide public information through public notices, newspaper, newsletter articles, internet and meetings regarding the transportation planning program in the Corpus Christi MPO study area; and
  • To ensure 3C "continuing, comprehensive, and cooperative" transportation planning process with local, state and federal agencies. 

The MPO also maintains a transportation GIS (Geographical Information System) database to assist in forecasting and developing the Corpus Christi Study Area's transportation network.
