One of the biggest challenges facing public sector transportation professionals is incorporating freight perspectives into the transportation planning process. Having access to accurate and timely data that can be used to support transportation planning, system performance monitoring and other organizational needs, is a top priority for federal transportation agencies, state departments of transportation (DOTs) and metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs). This session highlights national, state and MPO efforts to obtain improved freight data from non-traditional sources.
