 Responsibilities  
 

The MPO Staff provides support to both the Transportation Policy and Technical Advisory Committees. The MPO staff also carries out three major work activities to meet specific federal requirements.

  • The staff develops and maintains the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) through a "continuing, comprehensive, and cooperative (3C)" planning process.

  • The biennial development of a three-year program for highway and transit improvements known as the
    Transportation Improvement Program
    (TIP).

  • The annual adoption of a comprehensive one-year planning program. The Unified Planning Work Program
    (UPWP) describes and coordinates the individual transportation planning activities of all member agencies in
    the area.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
The County of Nueces is involved in Transportation System Management Activities to relieve congestion.  The County has a program to post appropriate signage near the Texas Sky Festival to alleviate congestion.  Other activities in which the County is involved are the speed limit control and 911 addresses and emergency system.
